Amazon Music for Artists: A Step-by-Step Claim Guide for Indian Artists

Amazon Music for Artists shows how fans listen to your music. Here is how the official claim flow works and how to avoid a denied request.

Amazon Music for Artists: A Step-by-Step Claim Guide for Indian Artists

Ask a room of independent artists how many have claimed their Amazon Music profile and maybe two hands go up. That is a missed chance, because Amazon Music for Artists shows you how fans are listening to your music, right on your phone.

Here is the process from Amazon's own help centre article, Getting Access as an Artist or Manager.

What you need before starting

  • Your music already live on Amazon Music, delivered by a distributor or label
  • An Amazon retail account (the same kind you shop with). Amazon says you must have one to sign up
  • Access to the artist's Instagram, Facebook or Twitter account, or a website that lists your email

The claim flow

1. Download the Amazon Music for Artists app or open the web version, and sign in with your Amazon account. 2. Choose the artist or manager tile. Labels and distributors pick the other tile. 3. Search your artist name and select the right profile. If too many people share your name, paste your Amazon Music artist URL instead. 4. Click Claim. 5. Enter a company name and your role. 6. Verify your link to the artist by connecting a distributor account or the artist's social media.

The verification part

Amazon gives instant access if you sign in with an account from a short list of partner distributors (it names CD Baby, DistroKid, TuneCore and TuneCore Japan). Everyone else verifies through social media.

Amazon is blunt: you can technically submit without connecting anything, but that greatly increases the chance of denial. Connect at least one social account. If that does not work, Amazon asks for links such as a website showing your claim email, or a social profile listing your name or email under "About".

When it says "already claimed"

Amazon lists a few common reasons:

  • It is not actually your profile (search by URL, not name)
  • Several artists share one profile and it must be fixed first
  • You already claimed it from another Amazon login
  • Someone on your team claimed it and can add you through Manage Team

A Rajasthani folk group we worked with had claimed their page from a family member's Amazon shopping account years ago. They found it only after checking every login.

Is it worth it in India?

Amazon Music comes with Prime, so plenty of listeners already have it, often without opening it much. A devotional label with aarti and morning bhajans may find its songs playing quietly every morning in homes it never knew about. You only know if you can see the data.

First, get on Amazon Music

RMX Music distributes to Amazon Music and 95+ other platforms, usually in 24-48 hours. You keep 100% ownership of your songs, get 95% royalties and monthly payouts. Labels pay ₹4,500 once for a lifetime plan.

Create your RMX Music account and your next release will be ready for Amazon Music for Artists too.
