Apple Music is not the biggest app in India, but it matters more than people think. Since Airtel moved Wynk users towards Apple Music, a lot of Punjabi and Hindi indie listeners now play songs there, and every play comes from a paying subscriber.
So yes, claim your page. It takes ten minutes of work and then a short wait. The steps below follow Apple's support article on claiming your artist page.
Rule one: wait five business days
Apple says your content must be live on Apple Music for at least five business days before you can claim the page. If you release on Friday and try on Saturday, it will not work. Mark a date in your phone and come back.
Rule two: you must be the primary artist
This catches a lot of collaborations. If your name appears only as a featured artist ("Song X feat. You"), Apple says you cannot claim the page from that release. You need at least one release where you are the primary artist.
The actual steps
1. Sign in to Apple Music for Artists (web or the iOS app) with your Apple Account. Create one if you do not have it. 2. Tap or click Request Artist Access. 3. Find your artist page link. Open Apple Music, go to your artist page or an album, choose Share, then Copy Link. 4. Paste that link into the Find an Artist field. 5. Select one of your albums to confirm you picked the correct page. 6. Choose your role: Artist, Manager or Label Rep. 7. Fill the form. For faster checks, Apple suggests signing in to your social media or distributor accounts inside the application.
While it is under review, the status shows "Pending" and Apple emails you updates.
Why claims get stuck
From what we see with artists, the slow ones usually have one of these problems:
- The Instagram account has a different name from the Apple Music page
- The email used has no link to the artist anywhere online
- The song was uploaded with a featured credit, not a primary one
- Two artists with the same name share a page because of messy metadata
The last one is a distributor issue. If a Rajasthani folk singer called "Mahesh" ends up on the same page as a Tamil rapper called "Mahesh", the distributor has to correct the artist mapping.
Managers and labels
Only artists or artist managers can claim a page. A label rep has to work with the artist to get added. Apple notes that if no artist or manager admin acts on a request for 30 days, it expires. Once you are approved as Admin, you review everyone else who asks to join.
What you get after approval
Apple describes it as a place to understand your audience, promote your music, add lyrics and customise your artist page. For a devotional label with a big catalogue, the audience data is the useful bit. If your Shiv bhajans are doing well in one city, you can plan your next shoot or live show around that.
Getting there in the first place
None of this is possible until your song is on Apple Music. RMX Music distributes to Apple Music along with 95+ platforms, and releases usually go live in 24-48 hours. You keep 100% ownership and 95% of royalties, with monthly payouts. Labels can take our lifetime plan for ₹4,500 one-time.
