Let's start with the honest part. Nobody can promise you a spot on Hot Hits Punjabi or a Spotify editorial playlist. Not a distributor, not a "playlist agency" on Instagram, not us. What you can do is give your song a fair shot by pitching it the right way.
Everything below comes from Spotify's help page, Pitching music and videos to Spotify playlist editors.
The 7-day rule
Spotify asks you to deliver your music at least 7 days before release so editors have time to listen. And if you pitch an unreleased song at least 7 days before release, Spotify adds it to your followers' Release Radar playlists.
Release Radar alone is worth it. That is a guaranteed push to people who follow you. So:
- Upload to your distributor 2-3 weeks before your release date
- Check that the song appears in Spotify for Artists under Music, then Upcoming
- Pitch it at least a week before release
Once the song is live, it can no longer be pitched.
How to pitch
1. Log in at artists.spotify.com (you need Admin or Editor access on your artist team). 2. Go to Music, then Upcoming. 3. Pick the song and fill in the pitch form.
Spotify says more detail gives your song a better chance.
The rules people break
- You can pitch only one song at a time. Once it goes live, you can pitch the next.
- You cannot pitch compilations or songs where you are only a featured artist.
- You can edit the pitch until release day, but editors may not see the changes.
- Editors might choose a different song from the release than the one you pitched.
Writing a pitch that says something
Most pitches we see say "Very nice song, please add to playlist". That tells an editor nothing. Use the form to answer real questions:
- What is the song? "A Haryanvi wedding track with a dhol drop at 0:45, made for baraat dance videos."
- Who is it for? "Fans of Masoom Sharma and Renuka Panwar."
- What's the story? "Written by my father, a ragini singer from Jind, and produced by me."
- What's your plan? "Teaser Reels from 10 creators, a performance at a Sonipat college fest, YouTube premiere on release day."
Pick genre, mood and culture tags carefully. If it is a Rajasthani folk fusion song, say so instead of just "Pop".
Pitching videos
Spotify is rolling out video pitching. Eligible official music videos can be pitched from the Video and Visuals section, and song and video pitches are separate.
After release
Check Music, then Playlists in Spotify for Artists. If you did not get picked, that is normal. Keep releasing, keep your followers growing, and pitch again next time.
Where your distributor matters
Your distributor's job is to get the song to Spotify on time with correct metadata so it shows up in Upcoming. RMX Music delivers to Spotify and 95+ platforms, usually in 24-48 hours once approved, so plan your upload early to leave the 7-day window. You keep 100% ownership and 95% royalties, with monthly payouts.
Sign up with RMX Music and schedule your next release with time to pitch.
